Keith Sykes
Artist website: KeithSykes.com
EPK: Sonicbids.com/keithsykes
Bio:
Nearly 30 years ago, a young Keith Sykes walked into a pawn shop on Memphis’ famed Beale Street and paid $20 for his first guitar. Since then, Sykes has made a name for himself as a guitarist/songwriter/producer extraordinaire, contributing to projects from artists as diverse as Jimmy Buffett, John Prine, Guy Clark, Jerry Jeff Walker, Todd Snider, Rosanne Cash and Patty Loveless. Now on his tenth record Don’t Count Us Out (newly released on Syren Records), Sykes showcases not only his finely honed talents, but those of some of his dearest and most talented friends as well. Review:
...Sykes' lyrical style is laidback and thoughtful and his arrangements are always clever and varied. He can rock hard or do ballads with the best and there's not a dead spot on the CD. He's a skilled craftsman on vocals, guitar and behind the control panel. I've reviewed albums for a long time and I don't think I have ever heard a better CD than this one.

Jimmy Davis
Artist website: Jimmy-Davis.net
Bio:
The "Memphis sound" has always escaped a simple definition. Diversity and individuality characterize the musical tradition of the city that gave the world Beale Street, Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, the Blues, Sun Studio, B.B. King, Rock Roll and W.C. Handy. Jimmy Davis is no exception to the rule. This versatile singer-songwriter, named "Premier Male Vocalist" five times by the Memphis Chapter of the National Academy of Recording Arts & Sciences, knows no boundaries when it comes to musical styles. Influences range from The Beatles to the Eagles, Johnny Cash and Gram Parsons to Jackson Browne. His songs have been recorded by Martina McBride, Restless Heart, Joy White, Johnny Rivers, as well as many other independent artists. MORE ...
Review:
"If you didn't know Davis wrote or co-wrote all these songs, you'd swear such tunes as "Grandmother's Quilt", "Devil's Den", "Buffalo Road" or "Down Where the River Flows" had been passed down for generations. In lieu of arrangements, Davis' plaintively powerful vocals do all the suggesting, giving flight to melodies that echo like half-forgotten memories, half-remembered tears. Jimmy Daddy's Acoustic Song List is an unassuming triumph and as honest a record as you're likely to hear ... "

Jed and Kelley
Artist website: JedandKelley.com
EPK: SonicBids.com/jedandkelley
Bio:
Townes Van Zandt once wrote that one should "sing for the sake of the song", and that's exactly what this duo does. Jed Zimmerman, owning every Dylan record at one time or another, cites Peter Rowan, Van Zandt and Gordon Lightfoot as definite influences. Kelley Mickwee grew up with Bonnie Raitt and Emmylou Harris albums, and seems to be cut from the Natalie Maines and Patty Griffin cloth. Together, they deliver something real and timeless. Jed and Kelley's debut record Lose to Win was recorded in the fall of 2004 at the Woodshed Studio in Memphis, Tennessee. Produced and engineered by Keith Sykes, the recording seems to capture the essence of the duo - original, honest songs with hand in glove harmonies. MORE ...
Review:
"This Memphis duo showcases Jed Zimmerman's songwriting and vocalist Kelley Mickwee's lovely, languid singing. The debut Jed and Kelley CD is totally charming, front to back. Whether she's singing lead and he's harmonizing or vice versa, the blend is always spot-on. ... I think they're right up there in the league of Buddy and Julie Miller, Gram Parsons and Emmylou Harris or Robin & Linda Williams."
